LG Washing Machine Repair in Banashankari

LG's Direct Drive motor removed the belt that used to be the first thing to fail — which means an LG that stops spinning is usually telling you something quite different from what a Whirlpool or Godrej would be.

Banashankari is a quieter, established south Bengaluru residential area along Kanakapura Road, with a mix of independent houses and mid-rise apartments. Visits here tend to be straightforward, with less traffic-related delay than the IT-corridor areas.

W2 is an independent appliance repair company. We are not an authorised LG service centre and have no affiliation with LG Electronics India Pvt. Ltd.. If your washing machine is still under manufacturer warranty, contact LG directly first — that service is free to you. We are the option once the warranty has run out, or when you want a second opinion or a faster visit.

What Direct Drive changes about an LG that will not spin

Nearly every washing machine sold in India until the mid-2000s drove the drum through a belt and a brushed motor. LG's Direct Drive design bolts the rotor straight onto the back of the drum. There is no belt to slip, no brushes to wear down and far less to go out of alignment — which is genuinely why LG drums tend to outlast their contemporaries, and why the diagnosis on a non-spinning LG goes somewhere else entirely.

Start at the hall sensor, not the motor. Direct Drive needs to know exactly where the rotor is at every instant, and it reads that from a small hall-effect sensor mounted on the stator. When that sensor drifts or fails, the control board loses rotor position and stops the wash rather than risk driving the motor blind. The machine will fill, drain, sometimes tumble weakly, and then throw UE or simply sit there. It reads exactly like a dead motor. It is a low-cost sensor and a straightforward replacement, and it is the single most common reason we are called to an LG front loader that has stopped spinning. Any technician who quotes you a full motor assembly before testing the sensor is guessing.

The 10-year motor warranty covers less than people think. LG's long motor warranty is real and it is worth using — but it covers the motor, not the sensor, the board, the pump or the labour. We check the manufacture date on the door frame sticker before quoting, and if the fault genuinely sits inside the covered part we will tell you to call LG rather than pay us. That conversation costs you the visiting charge and saves you the repair.

Then the drain path. An OE code is a drain fault, and in Bengaluru flats it is far more often the pump filter than the pump. Hair, coins and lint pack the impeller housing; the pump runs, moves nothing, times out. There is a filter flap at the bottom-right of every LG front loader that most owners have never opened. Clearing it is a ten-minute job.

And the water going in. IE means the machine did not fill in time. On borewell-fed supplies across Bengaluru's south and outer belt, the small mesh filter inside the inlet valve scales up with dissolved calcium until it passes a trickle. The valve tests fine electrically. Replacing it fixes nothing for long. The mesh has to come out and be descaled, and if your water is hard the machine will need it again — that is a maintenance interval, not a repeat fault, and we will say so.

LG error codes we see most

OENot draining
Outlet error — the machine did not empty within its allowed time. Check the pump filter flap at the bottom-right first; a packed impeller housing causes this far more often than a failed pump. A kinked or too-high drain hose does it too.
IENot filling
Inlet error — water did not reach the required level in time. Usually a scaled inlet mesh filter or low supply pressure rather than a failed valve, especially on borewell water. Check the tap is fully open before anything else.
UEUnbalanced load
The drum could not balance the load to spin safely. A single heavy item like a bedsheet or a floor mat is the usual cause. If it recurs on ordinary mixed loads, suspect the hall sensor or worn suspension, not the load.
dEDoor not locked
The control board cannot confirm the door is latched. Either the interlock has failed, the hinge has dropped enough to misalign the catch, or laundry is trapped in the seal. On older front loaders the interlock is a consumable.
LEMotor locked
The motor drew current but the rotor did not turn. Something is jamming the drum, or the hall sensor or stator has failed. Do not keep restarting the cycle — repeated locked-rotor attempts are what turns a sensor fault into a board fault.
PEWater level sensor
The pressure sensor is reporting an implausible level. Most often the small pressure hose has come off, kinked or filled with detergent sludge rather than the sensor itself having failed.
FEOverflow
Water level went past the safe maximum, usually a stuck-open inlet valve. The machine will drain and refuse to run. Turn the tap off at the wall until it is looked at — this is the one code worth treating as urgent.
tEHeating sensor
Thermistor out of range. On models with a heater this stops hot cycles but often leaves cold washes working, which is why people live with it for months. Cheap sensor, easy replacement.

How the visit works

You call or WhatsApp, we confirm a slot, and a technician reaches you in Banashankari — usually the same day for bookings before 4 PM. The diagnosis is free. You get a written quote before any work starts, and nothing is opened up or replaced until you have approved it. Repairs carry a 90-day warranty on the same fault; replaced parts carry the manufacturer's or supplier's own warranty.

Questions from Banashankari customers

Do you cover both Banashankari stages (1st to 6th Stage)?

Yes, all Banashankari stages. Let us know your stage and nearest cross-road when booking.

Is W2 an authorised LG service centre?

No. We are an independent multi-brand service centre and we are not affiliated with or appointed by LG Electronics India. We repair LG machines the same way we repair every other brand — with a free diagnosis and a written quote before any work. If your machine is still inside LG's warranty, we will tell you to use LG's own channel, because an outside repair can void that cover.

My LG front loader fills and drains but will not spin. What is it?

On a Direct Drive machine the first suspect is the hall sensor on the stator, not the motor. The board loses rotor position and abandons the spin, usually with a UE code. It is an inexpensive part. A worn drain pump that cannot empty fast enough for the spin to start produces the same symptom with an OE code, so the code matters.

Does LG's 10-year motor warranty cover my repair?

Only if the fault is the motor itself. The warranty does not extend to the hall sensor, the control board, the drain pump, the door interlock or the labour, which between them account for most LG failures. We check the manufacture date and the actual faulty part before quoting, and we will send you to LG if the covered part is what failed.

Why does my LG show IE when the tap is on?

IE means it did not fill fast enough, not that there is no water. In hard-water parts of Bengaluru the mesh filter inside the inlet valve scales up and throttles the flow. Cleaning the mesh restores it. If your supply is borewell-fed, expect to need this periodically rather than treating it as a fault that should never come back.

Do you use genuine LG parts?

We use OEM-grade parts and we hand you the old part back so you can see what was replaced. For LG-specific electronics like Direct Drive stators and main boards we source manufacturer parts where they are available; where they are not, we tell you what we are fitting and what warranty it carries before you approve the quote.

Is W2 an authorised LG service centre in Banashankari?

No. W2 is an independent appliance repair company and is not authorised by LG Electronics India Pvt. Ltd.. If your washing machine is still under manufacturer warranty, use the brand's own service channel first — you will not be charged. We are the option for out-of-warranty machines, second opinions, and faster turnaround.
