IFB Microwave Oven Repair in Bangalore

IFB sells convection microwaves in volume, and convection ovens have a whole second heating system that the solo models do not — which is why \"it works but it won't bake\" is such a common IFB call.

W2 Home Appliances is an independent multi-brand service centre. We are not an authorised IFB service centre and are not affiliated with, appointed by, or endorsed by IFB Industries Ltd.. "IFB" and all other brand names are trademarks of their respective owners, used here only to describe the appliances we repair. If your unit is still inside the manufacturer warranty, use IFB Industries Ltd.’s own service channel first — an outside repair can void that cover, and we will tell you so rather than take the job.

In depth

Two ovens in one box, and they fail separately

A convection microwave is genuinely two appliances sharing a cavity. One is a microwave: a magnetron, a transformer, a high-voltage capacitor and diode, generating energy that heats the water in your food directly. The other is a small fan oven: a resistive heating element and a fan that circulates hot air, which is what actually browns and bakes. They have separate circuits and separate faults, and IFB sells enough convection models here that the distinction comes up constantly.

"It heats but it will not bake" is the element. If food gets hot on microwave mode but cakes stay pale and nothing browns on convection, the microwave side is healthy and the convection element has failed open. That is a contained, inexpensive repair. The convection fan is the other candidate — with the element working but no air circulation, you get scorching in one place and raw batter in another rather than an evenly baked result. Neither fault touches the high-voltage circuit, so the job is far simpler and cheaper than a microwave-side repair.

"It runs but food stays cold" is the microwave side. That points at the high-voltage chain, and the order of testing matters a great deal to what you pay. The HV diode and capacitor fail more often than the magnetron and cost much less. They are checked first. A magnetron quote issued before those two have been tested is a quote you should question, because on a mid-range oven a magnetron plus labour gets close to the cost of replacement.

The door is the third common one. Interlock switches in series must all confirm the door closed before anything powers up, so one worn switch makes the whole oven appear dead. Cheap part. On IFB ovens that have seen heavy daily use we also see hinge wear that misaligns the catch and produces the same symptom without anything having actually failed.

Two practical notes. First, convection cavities take a great deal more thermal cycling than solo ones, so the enamel and the door seal age faster — worth inspecting rather than ignoring, because a poor door seal on a convection oven wastes heat and lengthens every bake. Second, and this is not negotiable: the high-voltage capacitor holds a dangerous charge long after the oven is unplugged. Do not open the case at home.

FAQ

IFB Microwave Oven Repair in Bangalore — frequently asked questions.

Is W2 an authorised IFB service centre?

No. We are an independent multi-brand service centre with no affiliation to or appointment from IFB Industries. If your oven is still inside IFB's warranty, use their own service channel first, because an outside repair can void the cover.

My IFB heats food but the convection mode does not bake.

The microwave side is working and the convection heating element has almost certainly failed open. It is a separate circuit and a contained, inexpensive repair. If the element is fine but baking is uneven — scorched in one spot, raw in another — the convection fan is the more likely culprit.

The oven runs but the food stays cold.

That is the microwave circuit. Have the high-voltage diode and capacitor tested before anyone quotes a magnetron: they fail more often and cost far less. On a mid-range oven a magnetron plus labour approaches the price of a new one, so the order of testing genuinely decides whether repair makes sense.

The microwave is completely dead with no display.

Usually the door interlock switches. They are wired in series and all must confirm the door is shut before the oven powers up, so one failed switch makes the whole appliance look dead. It is a cheap part. Worn hinges that misalign the catch produce the same symptom with good switches, so both get checked.

Is it worth repairing a convection microwave?

For convection-side faults, almost always — the element and fan are inexpensive and the oven is fully restored. For microwave-side faults it depends: a diode or capacitor is well worth it, a magnetron on a smaller or older oven often is not. We give you the part price and the honest comparison against replacement before you decide.

90-day service warranty, on every job.

If the exact same fault returns within 90 days of the visit, we fix it again at no charge — written on your digital bill, not just promised verbally. Replaced parts also carry the supplier's own part warranty on top.
