Geyser Not Heating Repair in Bangalore
A water heater that has stopped heating has a short list of causes, and the one that trips most often is a safety cut-out doing exactly what it was designed to do.

No hot water: element, thermostat, or the safety cut-out
A storage geyser is a simple appliance -- a tank, a heating element, a thermostat and a safety cut-out. That simplicity means the diagnosis is usually quick, and the repair is usually inexpensive.
Check the power first. Free, and worth doing. The MCB for the geyser circuit, the switch, and whether an ELCB or RCD has tripped. A geyser that trips the earth leakage protection every time it is switched on is telling you something specific and important -- see below.
The thermal cut-out. Most geysers have a manual-reset safety cut-out, often a small button near the thermostat, that opens if the water gets dangerously hot. When it has tripped you get no heating at all. The cut-out can simply be reset -- but resetting it without asking why it tripped is a mistake. It exists because something allowed the water to overheat, and that is usually a failed thermostat stuck closed. Reset it, and if the thermostat is still faulty the water heats uncontrolled until the cut-out trips again. A geyser that repeatedly trips its cut-out needs the thermostat replaced, not the button pressed.
The thermostat. Controls the element, switching it off when the set temperature is reached. Failing open means no heating at all; failing closed means continuous heating and a tripped cut-out. It is an inexpensive part and one of the most common geyser faults.
The heating element. Fails open circuit and is directly testable with a meter. In Bengaluru, hard water accelerates this considerably: scale builds up as an insulating crust on the element, which then runs hotter than designed to transfer the same heat into the water, and eventually burns out. An element that has failed early on hard water will do so again unless descaling becomes routine.
If it trips the ELCB. This usually means the element has failed to earth -- water is reaching the electrical side. This is a genuine electrical safety issue, not an inconvenience. Do not keep resetting the breaker and using it; the earth leakage protection is doing its job.

Geyser Not Heating Repair in Bangalore — frequently asked questions.
My geyser suddenly stopped heating. What's the most likely cause?
Usually a tripped thermal cut-out, a failed thermostat or a burnt-out heating element. Checking the MCB and whether an earth leakage breaker has tripped is worth doing first because it is free.
There's a reset button on my geyser. Can I just press it?
You can, but ask why it tripped. That cut-out opens because the water overheated, usually because the thermostat has stuck closed. Resetting it without fixing the thermostat means it will heat uncontrolled and trip again.
My geyser trips the ELCB every time I switch it on. Is that serious?
Yes, treat it as serious. It usually means the heating element has failed to earth and water is reaching the electrical side. Do not keep resetting the breaker and using it -- the protection is working correctly.
Why did my heating element fail so soon?
Hard water is the usual reason in Bengaluru. Scale forms an insulating crust on the element, which then runs hotter than designed to deliver the same heat and eventually burns out. Periodic descaling prevents the repeat.
Is a geyser worth repairing or should I replace it?
Elements, thermostats and cut-outs are all inexpensive and well worth repairing. Replacement only really becomes the sensible option when the tank itself has corroded and started leaking, which cannot be repaired.
90-day service warranty, on every job.
If the exact same fault returns within 90 days of the visit, we fix it again at no charge — written on your digital bill, not just promised verbally. Replaced parts also carry the supplier's own part warranty on top.
