Geyser Thermostat Repair in Bangalore
A failed geyser thermostat is either an inconvenience or a scalding hazard, depending on which way it failed -- and the dangerous direction is the one people ignore longest.

Two ways a geyser thermostat fails, and why one is urgent
The thermostat is what tells the heating element when to stop. It is a simple, inexpensive component, and it fails in two directions with very different consequences.
Failing open: no hot water. The thermostat never closes the circuit, so the element never runs. Annoying, entirely safe, and one of the most common geyser faults. Inexpensive to fix.
Failing closed: the dangerous one. The thermostat never switches the element off, so the water keeps heating past the set point. What stops it then is the thermal cut-out, a separate safety device that opens at a much higher temperature. That is the design working correctly -- but it means a geyser whose cut-out keeps tripping is running with no working temperature control, relying entirely on its last line of defence. The risks are real: scalding hot water at the tap without warning, and sustained pressure that stresses the tank and relief valve.
Why this gets ignored. Because the symptom looks trivial. People find the reset button, press it, get hot water again, and treat it as a quirk. Some do this for months. Each press restores an appliance whose temperature control is broken. If you are resetting a cut-out regularly, the thermostat needs replacing -- that is what the repeated tripping is telling you.
Water that is hot but not hot enough. Usually a thermostat that has drifted out of calibration rather than failed outright, or one whose probe is not making proper contact with the tank. Both are correctable.
Setting the temperature sensibly. Running a geyser at maximum is a common habit and a poor one. It scalds more easily, accelerates scale formation on the element considerably, and wastes energy keeping water hotter than anyone actually uses. A moderate setting extends element life and is safer, particularly in homes with children or elderly family members.
Why not to bypass it. Wiring an element directly to avoid replacing a thermostat removes all temperature control and leaves only the cut-out between you and a continuously heating tank. It happens, and it is genuinely unsafe.

Geyser Thermostat Repair in Bangalore — frequently asked questions.
My geyser's water is scalding hot. Is that a thermostat fault?
Very likely -- a thermostat stuck closed never switches the element off, so the water keeps heating past the set point. This is the dangerous failure direction and is worth attending to promptly rather than turning the setting down.
I keep pressing the reset button and it works. Is that OK?
No. Repeated tripping means the thermostat has failed and the safety cut-out is the only thing preventing continuous heating. Each reset restores an appliance with no working temperature control, which is not a state to live with.
Is a geyser thermostat expensive to replace?
No, it is one of the cheapest parts in the appliance and replacement is routine. Given the alternative is running without working temperature control, it is among the most worthwhile small repairs there is.
What temperature should I set my geyser to?
A moderate setting rather than maximum. Running at maximum scalds more easily, accelerates scale buildup on the element considerably and wastes energy keeping water hotter than anyone actually uses at the tap.
Can the element be wired directly to skip a faulty thermostat?
It should never be. Doing so removes all temperature control, leaving only the thermal cut-out between you and a continuously heating pressurised tank. It happens in the field and it is genuinely unsafe.

If the exact same fault returns within 90 days of the visit, we fix it again at no charge — written on your digital bill, not just promised verbally. Replaced parts also carry the supplier's own part warranty on top.
