The two Samsung-specific faults everyone else misreads
Samsung machines are built around a Digital Inverter motor — brushless, belt-driven on most front loaders rather than direct-coupled, and covered by a long motor warranty. Mechanically they are conventional enough that a general technician can work on one. The trouble is that two Samsung-specific subsystems produce symptoms that look like something much more expensive than they are.
The EcoBubble generator. On EcoBubble models the detergent is mixed with air and water in a separate chamber underneath the drum before it ever reaches your clothes. That chamber has its own small pump and a narrow path, and in hard water it silts up with a paste of undissolved detergent and scale. What you notice is that washes stop coming out clean, or the machine sits noticeably longer at the start of a cycle. What you are usually told is that the machine needs a new drum or a new board. It needs the bubble generator stripped and cleaned. Using far more detergent than the machine asks for — which almost everyone does — is what silts it up in the first place.
The 3E family of codes. 3E, 3E1, 3E2 and 3E4 all point at the motor circuit, and that is where the misdiagnosis starts, because the natural reading is "the motor is dead" and the motor is the single most expensive part in the machine. In practice the hall sensor on the motor, the wiring harness connector at the motor end, or the inverter section of the main board account for the large majority of 3E calls. A motor that has genuinely failed is rare, and it is usually still inside its warranty when it does, which means the right answer is Samsung's own service channel and not our invoice. We test the sensor and the harness before we ever quote a motor.
The ordinary faults are ordinary. 4E is a fill fault and on Bengaluru's borewell-fed supplies it is nearly always a scaled inlet mesh. 5E is a drain fault and nearly always the pump filter. UE is load imbalance until it starts happening on normal loads, at which point look at the suspension. Top-load Wobble machines add one of their own: the pulsator bolt works loose, the pulsator spins freely against the drum, and the machine washes badly while sounding perfectly healthy. It is a five-minute fix that is invisible unless you know to check for it.

What your Samsung error code is telling you.
These are the codes we are called out for most often. A code names the circuit that failed a self-test — it is a starting point for diagnosis, not a part order, and the same code can have a ₹0 cause and a ₹6,000 cause.
4E / 4C — Not filling
Water did not reach level in time. Check the tap, then the inlet mesh filter — on hard borewell water the mesh scales up and throttles flow while the valve still tests fine electrically.
5E / 5C — Not draining
The machine could not empty in time. Open the pump filter behind the small door at the bottom-front; a packed impeller housing is the usual cause. Also check the drain hose has not been pushed too far into the standpipe.
3E / 3E1 / 3E2 — Motor circuit
A motor-circuit fault. Before accepting a motor quote, insist the hall sensor, the motor harness connector and the inverter section of the board are tested — they account for most 3E calls and cost a fraction of a motor.
dC / dE — Door not locked
The door interlock is not confirming closed. Either laundry is caught in the seal, the hinge has dropped and misaligned the catch, or the interlock itself has failed. Common and inexpensive on older front loaders.
UE / UB — Unbalanced load
The drum could not balance for a safe spin. One heavy item is the usual cause. If it happens on ordinary loads, the shock absorbers or suspension springs have gone soft.
LE / LC — Water leak
The leak sensor in the base tray has been triggered. Stop using the machine and turn the tap off — the leak is often a perished sump hose or a cracked detergent drawer housing rather than the drum.
HE — Heater fault
The heating element or its thermistor is out of range. Cold washes usually keep working, which is why this gets ignored. In hard-water areas the element scales heavily and eventually fails open.
OE / OF — Overflow
Level went past maximum, normally a stuck-open inlet valve or a pressure sensor reading low. Turn the supply off at the tap until it is inspected.

My Samsung shows 3E. Do I need a new motor?
Usually not. 3E is a motor-circuit code, not a motor-failure code. The hall sensor, the connector at the motor end of the harness and the inverter section of the main board cause most 3E call-outs between them. Ask for those to be tested before you approve any motor quote — the price difference is large.
Why has my EcoBubble stopped washing properly?
The bubble generator under the drum silts up with undissolved detergent and scale, especially on hard water and especially if more detergent is used than the machine asks for. Stripping and cleaning the generator restores it. This is regularly misdiagnosed as a drum or board fault.
My top loader runs a full cycle but the clothes come out dirty.
On Wobble-drum top loaders check the pulsator first. Its central bolt works loose, the pulsator then spins against the drum instead of driving the water, and the machine sounds completely normal while washing badly. It is a quick fix once identified.
