A single-door fridge is a direct-cool machine. There is no fan and no air distribution system -- the cooling coil sits in the small freezer compartment at the top, and cold air simply falls naturally into the cabinet below. Direct-cool fridges are not frost-free and are designed to be defrosted manually every few weeks. Frost accumulating on the cooling coil is expected behaviour, not a fault. Door gasket. These fridges are often older and their gaskets harden and shrink with age. A poor seal means constant running and heavy frost, and given how cheap these units are to run when healthy, a bad gasket is a disproportionate cost.
